I was looking over your list of fiction books, and I noticed Jules Verne's "The Mysterious Island." Never heard of that one. But after looking at the link on Amazon, and reading what the book was about, it seemed to have striking similarities to "Lost," (perhaps the inspiration for the show?) and so now I think I may have to pick that up and see how it is.

"Guns, Germs and Steel" is no punk. So much for starting off slow. That book is not short. Let me know what you think. It's on my tentative list.

Yeah, the reason I got interested in "The Mysterious Island" is because some folks said it was really a good intro into Lost. I've also heard that about "The Stand" by Stephen King (which is also on my shelf clocking in at just over 1,150 pages). Supposedly the characterization is eerily similar and a lot of people think that's where the series is headed.
